Aims: Develop basic technical skills of football – Catching & Kicking
Playing Rules
- Play commences with a throw in.
- No shoulder charge allowed.
- Four steps & one bounce before playing the ball away.
- Player makes clear effort to pick up ball using the foot.
- Frees taken from the hand by the player fouled.
- Player nearest the ball takes sidelines kicks.
- Opposing players back 5m from free taker. Forty fives taken from 20m line. Free kicks no closer than 10m from opposing end line.
- Only 1 play of the ball allowed.
Playing the Game
- 7 x 7 a side or 9 x 9 asides only
- Playing Area 45m x 30m
- 2 points when the ball is played over the crossbar, 1 point for a goal.
- 4 quarters / 9 minutes per quarter
- Two Zones / Attackers and Defenders / Midfielders can enter either zone.
- All players rotate positions after each quarter. Teams change sides at half time.
- RESPECT initiative in place at all times to fellow players, mentors and referees.
- Home club to provide the referees.
- If possible we recommend home team provide light refreshments for parents.
Equipment
- Well-secured goal posts 10ft x 6ft / Training poles may be used.
- 3 x First Touch (Size 1) footballs
- Bibs & Cones
AGE 9-10 QUICK TOUCH
Aims:
Consolidate basic technical skills of football
Encourage use of weaker foot
Develop tactical awareness of playing and use of time & space
Playing Rules

- Side to side shoulder permitted.
- Four steps & one bounce or top tap before playing the ball away.
- Player makes clear effort to pick up ball using the foot.
- Frees taken from the hand by player fouled.
- Nearest player to ball takes side line kicks.
- Opposing players back 5m from free taker. Forty fives taken from 30m line. Free kicks no closer than 13m from opposing end line.
- Home team provides referee.
- Only 1 play of the ball allowed.
Playing the Game
- 7 x 7 aside or 9 x 9 (11 aside if numbers are big) aside only
- Playing Area 65m x 40m
- 1 pt when the ball is played under crossbar. 2pts for over the crossbar.
- 4 quarters / 10 minutes per quarter
