Connacht Scór na nÓg Final 2025 Report

Roscommon clubs enjoyed yet another fantastic day of success at the Connacht GAA Scór na nÓg Finals held in the Temperance Hall, Loughrea, on Saturday 29th November.
The first club in action for the county were KilglassGaels in the Tráth na gCeisteanna Boird. After a close initial table quiz section, Kilglass, Coolera Strandhill and Bornacoola, progressed to the stage heat. The event finished with Letirim’s Bornacoola taking the title, while Coolera Strandhill and the Roscommon representatives finished in second and third places respectively. All three clubs qualify to represent Connacht at the All-IrelandFinal.

In a hotly contested Amhránaíocht Aonair competition, Gemma Casey of St. Dominic’s gave a flawless delivery of the great Roscommon song, “The Ballad of O’Carolan’s Country” and in doing so, she was crowned Connacht Champion again, regaining the title she previously won in 2022 and 2023.

In the Aithriseoireacht Scéalaíocht event, Miriam Darcy of Padraig Pearses turned in a wonderful rendition of her self-penned piece, “My Darling Sarah”, beating off all opposition to claim the provincial title for Roscommon. In doing so she retains the title won last year by Kilmore’s Matthew Ffrench.

But Miriam’s winning streak was not finished there, as along with her teammates, Katie Grenham, Ailbhe Glynn Desmond, Kaie Killeen Lyons, Kate Killeen, Aoibhín Seale, Erin Arru and Oisín Murphy, brought a second provincial crown back to the South Roscommon club through their superb efforts in the Novelty Act Section. The group’s performance of “Mythological Love” was polished and humorous, assuring a very special double for Padraig Pearses.

Well done to the St. Michael’s Ballad Group on their fantastic performance and to the St. Dominic Figure Dancers, who turned in a stylish display in a fiercely contested decider. Our compliments too to the ElphinSet Dancers and Ceol Uirlise group, who competed excellently for the county.
A wonderful day for Roscommon GAA. Coiste Scór Ros Comáin commends all our competitors on Saturday and wishes the winners well in their preparations for the All Ireland Scór na nÓg Final in the INEC, Killarney on January 24th.
