Conor Mulry Announced As Roscommon Hurling Captain

The Roscommon senior hurling team enters the 2026 season under fresh management and with established leaders at the helm, as Conor Mulry takes on the captaincy, supported by Tommy Morris as vice-captain. This duo, both products of Four Roads Hurling Club club, brings a wealth of experience, recent silverware, and a winning mentality to guide the Rossies through a competitive Allianz Hurling League Division 3 campaign.
Conor Mulry steps into the captain’s role following his standout contributions in recent years. In 2025, he served as joint-captain (alongside Conor Cosgrove) and lifted the Nickey Rackard Cup at Croke Park after a dramatic victory over Mayo, where he delivered key scores and leadership in a final that saw Roscommon end a long wait for the title. Toasty, known for his accuracy, vision and composure in big moments, Mulry’s elevation reflects his status as one of Roscommon’s most influential players. With Cosgrove currently unavailable due to travel, Mulry’s experience positions him perfectly to lead under new manager Brian Hanley, with a strong backroom team including Keith Daniels, Kieran Callan, Kieran Farrell, and Damien Lohan.
Vice-captain Tommy Morris, another Four Roads stalwart, complements Mulry’s leadership with his own reliability and club success. A consistent performer, Morris contributed scores in the 2025 county final (0-1) and has been a regular in the Roscommon setup. His work rate, touch and familiarity with the core of the panel, make him an ideal deputy to drive standards and support the captaincy.
Under Hanley, the focus is on building momentum in Division 3, where promotion to Division 2 is the prize for the top two teams. The group features tough opposition, but Roscommon’s blend of experience and youth offers promise.
The campaign kicks off this Sunday, January 25th, with a home fixture against Wicklow at King & Moffatt Dr. Hyde Park with a throw in of 13:00. This opener provides the perfect stage for Mulry, Morris, and the squad to set the tone for the year ahead.

Roscommon hurling has shown real progress in recent seasons, from Nickey Rackard success to sustained club dominance feeding into the county team. With leaders like Mulry and Morris steering the ship, there’s genuine optimism for 2026.
Best of luck to Conor, Tommy, Brian Hanley, and the entire panel
