Roscommon GAA Scór Sinsir Final 2026

The excellent facilities of Kilmurry Hall hosted a wonderful display of local GAA talent on Saturday last, 13th March, as clubs from all over the county contested the Roscommon Scór Sinsir Final.
The first category for decision was the Tráth na gCeisteanna. At the initial table quiz round teams from Elphin, Tulsk, Creggs, Kilglass Gaels, Clann na Gael and Roscommon Gaels, took part. Tulsk, Elphin and Kilglass progressed to the stage final round and after strong answering from all teams, it was reigning champions, Elphin, who emerged victorious.

The Amhránaíocht Aonair was a keeenly contested event with singers battling it out to be crowned county champion. Loretta Connaughton (St. Dominic’s), Sorcha Gilboy (St. Michael’s), Saoirse Murray (Kilbride), Olivia Bliss (St. Dominic’s) and Chelcy Sharkey (Kilmore) all gave strong performances but it was Fionnán Seale who won the title for Padraig Pearses’s with his fantastic rendition of ‘England’s Motorway’.

Yvonne Foley (Kilmore), Vincent Pearse (St. Dominic’s), Miriam Darcy (Padraig Pearses) and Máire Ní Dhonnacha (St. Michael’s) turned in strong deliveries in the Recitation/Storytelling competition. However, it was Tom Costello with his performance of ‘The Manager’, who won the adjudicator’s approval and ensuring a hat trick of titles for Padraig Pearses in this event.

The Ballad Group discipline proved highly enjoyable, with groups from St. Dominc’s and Padraig Pearses contesting strongly with their songs. The title was bound for the St. Michael’s club, who deservedly regained the accolade they won in 2024, with their polished renditions of ‘Tráthnóna Aoine’ and ‘The Faughan Side’. Special mention must go to St. Michael’s Ballad Group member, Niamh Reynolds, who displayed all of the wonderful spirit and local pride that makes the GAA such a special association, as she performed for her club despite the loss of her Grandfather, John Burke (RIP), in recent days.

In the Novelty Act discipline, Elphin, Padraig Pearses and St. Dominic’s, all provided great humour and entertainment to the crowd. In what was undoubtedly a tight affair, the Knockcroghery club emerged the victor and will now hope to defend the All Ireland title they won in this event last year.

In the Ceol Uirlise event, we were treated to a fantastic showcase for traditional music. Six groups from Elphin, St. Michael’s and St. Ronan’s, battled it out for their place in the Connacht final. The title went to an exceptionally polished St. Ronan’s team who regain the title they last won 3 years ago.

Sole entrants in the Rince Seit, Elphin rose the energy levels with a spirited display to finish off one of the best county finals in Roscommon Scór in many years.

Thank you to our fantastic M.C. Cian Diffley Runaí Coiste Scór Ros Comáin, to Adrian McDermot (sound) and the fantastic Kilmurry Hall for the welcome to their beautiful facility. Winners were presented with their cups by Cathaoirleach GLG Ros Comáin, Tom Murray.
