The race for county final places takes centre stage this weekend in Roscommon as the Hodson Bay Hotel Group Senior Football Championship, McNulty Furniture Intermediate Football Championship and King & Moffatt Junior ‘A’ Football Championship all reach the semi-final stage.
Six games across Saturday and Sunday will decide the finalists in all three competitions, with twelve clubs now just one victory away from a place in their respective County Finals.
For every club involved, the stakes could hardly be higher. Months of preparation and championship football have brought them to this point, and this weekend players and management teams will be hoping to take that final step towards County Final day.
Hodson Bay Hotel Group Senior Football Championship
The first Senior semi-final takes place at King & Moffatt Dr Hyde Park on Saturday at 4.30pm, when Pádraig Pearses face Boyle.
Pádraig Pearses are bidding to return to the County Final having last lifted the Fahey Cup in 2024, while Boyle’s last Senior Football Championship success came in 1927. Boyle have come agonisingly close in recent years, reaching consecutive County Finals in 2022 and 2023, and will be hoping to take another step towards ending that long wait this weekend.
The second Senior semi-final takes place at the same venue on Sunday at 3.30pm, when Strokestown meet defending champions St Brigid’s.
St Brigid’s lifted the county title in 2025 and went on to enjoy a memorable campaign, reaching the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship Final, while Strokestown last claimed the Senior crown in 2022.
McNulty Furniture Intermediate Football Championship
The Intermediate Championship has produced another highly competitive campaign and four clubs remain in the hunt for the title and promotion to the Senior ranks.
On Saturday at 7.00pm in Lisnamult, St Dominic’s face Tulsk Lord Edwards.
Then on Sunday at 1.00pm in Davonna Park, Ballinameen, Éire Óg take on St Michael’s.
There is plenty of history at stake in this one. Both clubs will be determined to move one step closer to claiming senior status in 2027.
King & Moffatt Junior A Football Championship
The Junior A semi-finals also take place across the weekend.
Ballinameen face Kilglass Gaels at Tom Collins Park, Croghan, on Saturday at 3.00pm.
While on Sunday at 1.30pm in Knockcroghery, St Aidan’s take on Clann na nGael B.
All four clubs will be aiming to take another step towards a return to Intermediate status, setting the scene for two highly competitive semi-finals.
