Roscommon GAA is gearing up for a weekend of championship excitement and celebration, with two County Football Finals taking centre stage at King & Moffatt Dr Hyde Park, alongside two special ceremonies marking important developments at the county grounds, while the Scór na nÓg County Semi-Finals showcase the county’s young cultural talent.
The stage is set at The Hyde for a thrilling weekend of County Final action, as four clubs chase championship glory, parish pride and the chance to write their names into Roscommon GAA history.
The action gets underway on Saturday, 17th October at 3pm, when Ballinameen face St Aidan’s in the King & Moffatt Roscommon Junior A Football Championship Final.
More than silverware is at stake, with the winners also securing promotion to Intermediate football for 2027.
Ballinameen will be hoping to go one better after last year’s County Final disappointment against St Croan’s. They overcame Kilglass Gaels in the semi-final, while St Aidan’s booked their place with a hard-fought two-point victory over Clann na nGael B.
St Aidan’s won when the sides met earlier in the championship, but that result will count for little when the ball is thrown in on Saturday.
The on Sunday, 18th October at 2pm, attention turns to the Hodson Bay Group Roscommon Senior Football Championship Final as Pádraig Pearses and St Brigid’s renew their rivalry.
The neighbouring South Roscommon clubs have shared six of the last seven county titles, and another fiercely contested encounter is expected.
Defending champions St Brigid’s overcame Strokestown in the semi-final, while Pádraig Pearses edged past Boyle after extra time in one of the games of the championship.
The Fahey Cup, parish pride and a place in the Connacht Club Senior Football Championship await the winners.

Scór na nÓg Takes Centre Stage
Away from the football field, talented young performers from clubs across Roscommon will showcase their skills at the Scór na nÓg County Semi-Finals on Friday, 16th and Saturday, 17th October.
Competitors will take part in traditional Irish music, song, dance, drama and storytelling, hoping to secure their place in the County Final on Sunday, 8th November.
Roscommon GAA wishes all participants, mentors and clubs the very best of luck and thanks the Scór Committee and volunteers for their continued dedication to promoting our cultural traditions.
Tickets are €8 online HERE and will also be available at the door

Two Special Ceremonies at Dr Hyde Park
County Final weekend will also mark two important milestones in the continued development of King & Moffatt Dr Hyde Park.
On Saturday, 17th October at 1.30pm the Dr Hyde Park Patrons Wall will be officially unveiled ahead of the Junior A Final. Located beside the Main Stand at the Town End Terrace (Location A), the wall recognises the generosity of supporters and provides a lasting tribute to individuals, families and loved ones.
Then on Sunday, 18th October at 12.30pm, ahead of the Senior Final, Roscommon GAA will officially open the new accessible sanitary facilities and wheelchair-accessible viewing area (Location B), another significant step towards improving accessibility and the matchday experience for all supporters.
