Championship Knockout Action, All-Ireland Final and More in a Busy Period for Roscommon GAA

It promises to be another action-packed weekend for Roscommon GAA, with championship places, county status and All-Ireland honours all on the line across a packed programme of games.
It comes at the end of another particularly busy week for our underage clubs, with county titles decided across a number of grades, while hurling and Scór also feature prominently on the calendar over the coming weeks.
ADULT FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER-FINALS
The adult football championships move firmly into knockout territory this weekend, with 11 quarterfinals taking place across the Hodson Bay Group Senior, McNulty Furniture Intermediate and King & Moffatt Junior ‘A’ Football Championships – St Aidan’s v St Brigid’s C Junior ‘A’ Championship quarter – final has been conceded.
After weeks of group and qualifying action, the race for the three county titles now intensifies as clubs battle for places in their respective championship semi-finals. With no second chances from here, another fascinating weekend of club championship football lies ahead.
There is also plenty at stake at the other end of the Senior and Intermediate Championships, with the relegation finals taking place this weekend. Senior and Intermediate status for next season will be on the line in two hugely important fixtures.

Roscommon Masters Chase All-Ireland Honours
The primrose and blue will also be represented on the national stage this weekend as the Roscommon Masters footballers take on Meath in the All-Ireland Shield Final on Saturday, September 19th.
Players from clubs across the county will come together as Roscommon look to finish their Masters campaign on a high. We wish the players and management the very best of luck in the final which takes place on Saturday September 19th at 3pm in Fr Manning Gaels GAA, Drumlish, Co Longford, N39 H248
A Week of Underage Champions
It has been another memorable couple of weeks for underage football in Roscommon, with a number of county championship titles decided and some terrific contests served up by our young players. From U14 through to Minor level, clubs across the county have celebrated championship success following months of hard work by players, coaches and volunteers.
Among those celebrating was Pádraig Pearses, pictured below, who were crowned Connacht Gold Minor Division 1 Football Champions following a thrilling final against Roscommon Gaels which required extra-time to separate the sides.
Congratulations to all of the teams who have claimed county titles during the past two weeks and equally to every team that reached a county final. The quality and competitiveness of the games have provided another great showcase for underage football in Roscommon. ROSCOMMON GAA CLUB HURLING
U14 Hurling League Final
There is underage silverware to be decided too, with Four Roads and Tooreen meeting in the U14 Hurling League Final. The game takes place in Athleague on Sunday, September 20th at 11am, with both clubs looking to finish their league campaigns by lifting the trophy. Best of luck to the players and management of both teams.
Gerry Gill Motors Junior Hurling Championship Final
While football takes centre stage this weekend, attention will quickly turn back to the adult hurling championships. Next weekend will see the first of this year’s adult hurling championship titles decided, with the Gerry Gill Motors Junior Hurling Championship Final taking place on Saturday, September 26th between St Dominic’s v Four Roads. After battling their way through the championship, the two finalists will have the opportunity to finish their campaign by lifting the county title.
Kepak Senior Hurling Semi-Finals
The hurling action continues on Sunday, September 27th, when the focus switches to Ballyforan for the Kepak Senior Hurling Championship semi-finals.
Oran face Four Roads at 1.30pm, before St Dominic’s take on Tremane at 3.30pm, with the winners progressing to the Senior Hurling Championship Final.
It promises to be another significant weekend for hurling in the county, with the Junior champions crowned on Saturday before the two Senior Championship finalists are confirmed on Sunday.

GAA Regional Youth Forum – Expression of Interest
Young GAA members are also invited to have their voice heard at the upcoming GAA Regional Youth Forum/Fóram Réigiúnach Óige CLG, a day of chat, debate and discussion where participants can share their opinions and experiences of Gaelic games both on and off the pitch. The event takes place in The Bush Hotel, Carrick on Shannon on Sunday 27th September 11am – 3pm. Those interested are encouraged to complete the Expression of Interest form HERE
Connacht GAA Student Bursary Scheme 2026/27
Applications are now open for the Connacht GAA Student Bursary Award Scheme 2026/27, supporting GAA members attending full-time Higher Education who are actively involved with their college club. The closing date for applications is Friday, October 30th, 2026.
