A Lasting Tribute to Loyalty and Legacy as Patrons Wall Unveiled at Dr Hyde Park

October 22nd, 2026

A lasting celebration of Roscommon GAA, its supporters and the people who hold a special place in their hearts was marked on Saturday, 17th October, with the official unveiling of the Patrons Wall at King & Moffatt Dr Hyde Park. The wall provides a permanent tribute to individuals and loved ones, honouring cherished memories, family connections and the enduring bonds that unite generations of Roscommon supporters.

In a ceremony marked by pride, gratitude and moments of poignant reflection, the newly commissioned wall was unveiled by Eileen Fahey, wife of the late Michael Fahey, former Chairperson of Roscommon GAA, ahead of the Junior A Football Championship Final.

The occasion was both a celebration of the enduring loyalty of Roscommon GAA supporters and an opportunity to remember those whose contribution to Gaelic games in the county lives on long after their passing.

Addressing those gathered, Roscommon GAA Chairperson Thomas Murray reflected on the significance of the occasion, acknowledging the many names inscribed on the wall belonging to supporters who are no longer with us.

He paid particular tribute to the late Michael Fahey, recognising his outstanding service, unwavering commitment and the lasting influence he had on Roscommon GAA throughout his many years of involvement.

Thomas expressed his sincere appreciation to all those who had supported the Patrons Wall initiative, describing it as a fitting and permanent acknowledgement of the individuals and families whose loyalty to Roscommon GAA has endured across generations.

He also highlighted the tangible benefits of that generosity, noting that funds raised through the initiative have helped support a number of the recent improvements and developments at Dr Hyde Park.

For Eileen Fahey, the unveiling carried particular personal significance. Speaking at the ceremony, she expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Roscommon GAA for the kindness and support extended to her and her family following Michael’s recent passing. She said she was deeply honoured to have been invited to perform the unveiling, making an already meaningful occasion all the more special.

A Permanent Place in Roscommon GAA History

The Patrons Wall represents far more than a collection of names engraved in stone. It is a lasting record of the people whose passion, generosity and commitment have helped sustain Gaelic games in Roscommon, and a reminder that the strength of the Association rests not only with those who take to the field, but equally with those who stand behind them.

The first phase of the project features 100 names, with a further 60 plaques already reserved for installation ahead of the 2027 National Football League campaign.

With just 40 spaces remaining, supporters are encouraged to reserve their plaque as soon as possible to secure their place on this lasting tribute at Dr Hyde Park.

Plaques can be ordered or reserved through the Club Rossie website HERE  or by contacting the Roscommon GAA County Board offices on 090 6627176.

Designed, crafted and installed by Feelystone of Boyle, under the direction of Shane Feely, the Patrons Wall occupies a prominent position on the Main Stand side of the Town End Terrace at King & Moffatt Dr Hyde Park.

As generations of Roscommon supporters pass through the gates of Dr Hyde Park in the years ahead, the wall will stand as a permanent reminder of those whose devotion to the primrose and blue has helped shape the county’s proud GAA story.

For some, the names will evoke cherished memories of loved ones no longer here. For others, they will represent a family tradition, a lifelong allegiance or a deeply personal connection to Roscommon GAA. Together, they tell a story of loyalty, belonging and a legacy that will endure for generations to come.
