Roscommon GAA – Fixtures Update

Roscommon GAA enjoyed a hugely positive week across all grades, with some notable successes. Alongside these competitive fixtures, the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship draw takes place tomorrow Monday May 3rd. The week will also see a special moment of recognition as the Roscommon heroes of 2001 are honoured at the Connacht SFC Final, adding further significance to a memorable period for the county.

First of all, at senior level, Mark Dowd and his players overcame Mayo to book their place in the Connacht Senior Football Championship Final on May 10th against a Galway team who are seeking their 5th consecutive title. The exploits of last Sunday have been well covered so we will look ahead to the final.
This is the first provincial final in King & Moffat Dr. Hyde Park since 2018 for Roscommon, with a large crowd expected on the day. Throw in at 16:15pm, the game will also be shown on RTE2. Tickets for the game can be purchased via ticketmaster.ie or selected Supervalu & Centra Stores. Supporters are encouraged to allow plenty of time for travel and arrival at The Hyde to ensure smooth access and to soak up the matchday atmosphere! While out and about, please continue to support Roscommon GAA – Club Rossie Business Members, whose backing plays a vital role in the ongoing development of Gaelic Games across the county- https://clubrossie.ie/business-directory/
Best of luck to Mark Dowd, his players and management team.
From Brink to Glory: 2001 Heros to be honoured

A nice feature of this year’s 2026 Connacht SFC Final Sunday at home in The Hyde will be the half-time honouring of the Roscommon team of 2001. It is a fitting tribute to the players and management who delivered that famous victory, while also taking time to remember those who are no longer with us. Full details will be carried in next Tuesday’s Roscommon Herald, ahead of the occasion on matchday.

Connacht u20 Champions!
There was further success on Wednesday, April 29th, in Tuam Stadium, where Cian Smith and his excellent squad of players claimed the Connacht U20 title after an enthralling encounter, once again overcoming Mayo to secure provincial honours after extra time. They now face Kerry in the All Ireland Semi Final. The game provisionally set for Saturday 9th May won’t go ahead on that date, so we await confirmation of the new date, time and venue by the CCCC.

Connacht Final for Roscommon u17’s
Attention now turns to the Roscommon U17s, who face Galway in the Connacht final this Friday, May 8th in Tuam Stadium 7pm, as Manager Shane Moran and his players look to make it back-to-back title wins. All support will be needed to help the lads get over the line. Tickets can be purchased via https://connachtgaa.ie/tickets/ and the game will also be available on sportTG4 platform.
We wish Shane, the players and management team the very best of luck!

Roscommon Hurling Updates
Brian Hanley and the Roscommon Senior hurlers travel to Letterkenny on Saturday, May 9th, to face Donegal in Round 4 of the Christy Ring Cup. Throw-in is at 7pm in what is a crucial fixture for this squad as they continue their championship campaign. All support is greatly appreciated, with tickets available via gaa.ie and selected Centra and SuperValu stores. Best of luck to Brian, the players and the management team.

Roscommon u20 Hurlers

Commiserations to John Benton and his players following their defeat in the U20B All-Ireland Hurling Richie McElligott Cup final. Roscommon were unfortunate to come up against a Derry side who delivered a very polished performance, with the final score reading Derry 1-17 to Roscommon 1-11. Despite the result, there were plenty of positives for the team to build on, and continued commitment and development will undoubtedly bring further success in time. Keep hurling lads—your day will come.
Roscommon u17 Hurlers
Adrian Tully and his U17 hurlers suffered defeat in a re-fixed Round 2 fixture of the Electric Ireland Celtic Challenge group stages away to Mayo. Despite the result, their campaign continues as they progress to the quarter-finals of the competition, where they will face Wicklow on Saturday, May 9th. Best of luck to Adrian and all the players as they look forward to the next challenge.
