There is another action-packed few days ahead across Roscommon, with club championship football, underage county finals and an All-Ireland Rounders Final all on the programme, while crucial Intermediate and Junior Championship play-offs and relegation fixtures will also take place.
Attention then quickly turns towards the Hodson Bay Group Senior Football Championship Quarterfinals, with updated dates, times and venues now confirmed, while the Kepak Senior Hurling Championship Semi-Finals and the Junior Hurling Championship final are also on the horizon.
FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY-OFFS & RELEGATION There are crucial games ahead in both the McNulty Furniture Intermediate Football Championship and King & Moffatt Junior ‘A’ Football Championship as the remaining Quarter-Final places are decided.
In the McNulty Furniture Intermediate Championship, St Brigid’s B face Fuerty in a play-off for the final Quarter-Final place in Ballyforan on Friday, September 11th at 8.15pm. The Quarter-Final draw for the Interemdiate and Junior ‘A’ Championships will take place after this game in Ballyforan.
The four seeded teams awaiting the IFC Quarter-Final draw are St Dominic’s, Creggs, Éire Óg and Kilmore, with Tulsk, St Michael’s and Shannon Gaels already through alongside the winners of St Brigid’s B v Fuerty.
The semi-final pathway has also been predetermined: Winner QF1 v Winner QF2 and Winner QF3 v Winner QF4
Intermediate Relegation Semi-Final St Barry’s take on Pádraig Pearses B in an important Intermediate relegation fixture. That game takes place in Creggs on Saturday 12th at 6pm.
In the King & Moffatt Junior ‘A’ Football Championship, Boyle B and St Ronan’s will battle for the remaining Quarter-Final place. This game takes place in Strokestown on Friday, September 11th at 8pm. As mentioned above the draw for the Quarter-Final pairings takes place in Ballyforan tomorrow Friday 11th September after the Intermediate game. All interested parties are invited to attend.

UNDERAGE FINALS COMING FAST & FURIOUS
The Connacht Gold Underage Football Championships are reaching the business end, with a busy programme of knockout action across U14, U16 and Minor grades. Congratulations to Kilbride GAA (pictured above) who won the u16 Division 2 Championship v Kilmore/Shannon Gaels during the week. Congratulations also to st Michael’s/St Ronan’s who secured the u14 Division 4 Shield final v St Faithleachs.
A number of county finals are among the games coming up.

The U14 Division 1 Shield Final sees Boyle take on Kilmore/Shannon Gaels in Boyle at 6.30pm, while Kilglass Gaels/St Barry’s meet St Aidan’s in the U14 Division 2 Shield Final in Enfield, also at 6.30pm. Then Clann na nGael and St Brigid’s contest the U14 Division 1 Cup Final in Woodmount at 7pm.
On Friday, September 11th, attention turns to Ballyforan for the underage Minor Division 1 Final, where Roscommon Gaels face Pádraig Pearses at 6.30pm. The game will also be streamed by Clubber TV, giving supporters who cannot attend in Ballyforan the chance to watch the county final.
The Minor Division 2 Final follows on Saturday, September 12th, with Kilbride facing Oran/St Croan’s in Ballyforan at 6pm. This is sure to be another cracker of a game.

UNDERAGE HURLING There is plenty of underage hurling action to look forward to across Roscommon over the coming weeks, with the Minor and U16 Championships getting underway and the U14 Championship reaching its concluding stages.
The Minor Hurling Championship begins on Tuesday, September 15th, with Pádraig Pearses, St Dominic’s, Athleague/Tremane/Oran and Roscommon Gaels all competing for county honours. The opening round will see Pádraig Pearses take on Roscommon Gaels, while St Dominic’s face Athleague/Tremane/Oran.
The U16 Hurling Championship also gets underway next week, with Pádraig Pearses, Roscommon Gaels and Athleague/Tremane/Oran involved. Roscommon Gaels and Pádraig Pearses meet in the opening game on Thursday, September 17th, Athleague/Tremane/Oran have a bye.
U14 Championship Reaches Semi-Final Stage Meanwhile, the concluding stages of the U14 Hurling Championship are currently taking place, with four teams remaining in contention. Roscommon Gaels face Athleague/Tremane/Oran, while Pádraig Pearses take on Four Roads in the two semi-finals. All four semi-finalists will progress to a final, ensuring another opportunity for the young hurlers to represent their clubs on county final day.
The winners of the two semi-finals will meet in the Michael Hanley Memorial Cup Final. The winning team will be presented with the Michael Hanley Memorial Cup, while the runners-up will receive the Michael Hanley Memorial Shield. The two losing semi-finalists will contest the Michael Hanley Memorial Plate Final.
U14 finals are scheduled to take place as a double-header on Saturday, September 26th, bringing the U14 Championship to a fitting conclusion.

SENIOR HURLING SEMI-FINALS The four remaining teams in the Kepak Senior Hurling Championship will return to action on Sunday, September 27th, when the two County Semi-Finals take place in Ballyforan.

The winners will progress to the Kepak Senior Hurling Championship Final in King & Moffatt Dr Hyde Park on Sunday, October 11th.
JUNIOR HURLING FINAL The Gerry Gill Motors Roscommon Junior Hurling Championship Final will see Four Roads and St Dominic’s battle it out for county honours in Athleague on Saturday, September 26th at 6pm.
This year’s final will also mark a special moment for the competition, with the winners becoming the first team to be presented with the new John Donoghue Cup, which has been kindly sponsored by Pádraig Pearses GAA.

UPDATED SFC QUARTER-FINAL FIXTURES Looking further ahead, updated dates, times and venues have now been confirmed for the Hodson Bay Group Senior Football Championship Quarterfinals, following changes necessitated by venue availability.
The action begins on Friday, September 18th, when Strokestown face Castlerea St Kevin’s in Ballyforan at 8pm.
The Hodson Bay Group SFC Relegation Final also takes place that evening, with Clann na nGael facing St Faithleach’s in Kiltoom at 8pm and Senior Championship status on the line.
On Saturday, September 19th, Pádraig Pearses take on Michael Glavey’s in Lisnamult at 3.30pm.
The remaining two Quarterfinals take place on Sunday, September 20th.
Oran face Boyle in Orchard Park at 1.30pm, before St Brigid’s and Roscommon Gaels complete the Quarter-Final programme in Woodmount at 4.30pm.

KILMORE CHASE ALL-IRELAND ROUNDERS TITLE
There will also be plenty of Roscommon interest outside the county this weekend as Kilmore Rounders head to Mallow to contest the GAA Rounders Mixed All-Ireland Junior Final on Sunday, September 13th at 11am.
Kilmore will face Galway City Rapparees in the decider as they bid to bring an All-Ireland title back to Roscommon.

SCÓR na nÓG RETURNS TO ROSCOMMON FOR 2026
Roscommon GAA’s Scór na nÓg returns this autumn with this year’s competition taking place in St John’s Community Centre, Lecarrow, on Friday, October 16th and Saturday, October 17th. Those progressing from the semi-finals will have their sights set on the Scór na nÓg County Final, which takes place in Elphin Community Centre on Sunday, November 8th.
Scór has a proud tradition within Roscommon GAA, providing young club members with the opportunity to represent their clubs away from the playing field while displaying the music, language, traditions and culture that form an important part of the GAA.
Clubs across the county are encouraged to get involved and identify members interested in entering this year’s competitions.
The deadline for entries is Friday, October 9th, 2026, with entries to be submitted to irishculturalofficer.roscommon@gaa.ie.
